Bringing the Harvard Liberal Arts Experience to Vietnam
MISSION
We are a sustainable nonprofit with social justice values. Both Harvard seminar leaders and Vietnamese high school students participate only in activities we believe can transform thoughts, break down cultural barriers, and foster critical thinking. We aim to open up the world for Vietnamese high school students, and to open up Vietnam for Harvard students. No profits are generated from the program, and all organizers are volunteers.
PROGRAM
HVIET is a week-long overnight liberal arts summer program for Vietnamese high school students created by Harvard students. At our unique overnight program, we foster students' academic and personal growth through innovative cross-cultural content modeled after Harvard classes, and strong peer and mentoring support networks. The result: a summer of unforgettable memories and lasting connections. The program is created by the Harvard Vietnamese Association, an official student organization of Harvard College, with the support of our organizing partner Golden Path Academics. It is the first liberal arts program organized by Harvard students in Vietnam.
In bringing liberal arts methods and inspiring Harvard student teachers to Vietnam, HVIET aims to transform thoughts, foster critical thinking, and break down cultural barriers. We aim to open up the world for Vietnamese high school students, and to open up Vietnam for Harvard students—so that they, as future leaders, will, in turn, inspire others.
